  • Eades, 2005, Prompted by the Jost and Shaw study (in press), the OSF committee of the Orthopterists' Society in December, 2005 reviewed the classification of extant Ensifera down to family level. This led to numerous changes in the classification used by this website, including discontinuation of the recognition of this family.
• Type genus:  Eneoptera Burmeister, H., 1838; priority for family-group names based on Eneoptera dates from Eneopterites Saussure, 1874.  First use as Eneopteridae by Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1893.
