  • Braun, 2012, Brunner von Wattenwyl's specimens of Platyphyma mexicanum and Walker's specimen of Caloptenus mexicanus were apparently from the same series collected by the traveller and entomologist Auguste Sallé. Walker did not refer to Brunner's species but intended to describe a new one.
