  • Eades, 2009, Amédégnato, 1974 indicated preference for Proctolabinae because Coscineuta is atypical for the subfamily. Although the Code of Zoological Nomenclature requires that Coscineutinae be recognized as a senior synonym, orthopterists have generally accepted Proctolabinae. A ruling by the Commission may be required to put the matter to rest.
• Type genus:  Proctolabus Saussure, 1859; priority for family-group names based on Proctolabus dates from Proctolabinae Amédégnato, 1974.  First use as Proctolabinae by Amédégnato, 1974.
