  • Braun, 2009, Stoll considered "Gryll. Tettigonia Linn." to be a genus, as the title of the respective chapter of his work indicates: "TROISIEME GENRE: Les Sauterelles à Sabre". Only in the Dutch part of the introduction the spelling "Tettigoniæ" in "Zabelspringhaanen (Gryll. Tettigoniæ Linn.)" might look like a family-group name. On the French side it reads "Sauterelles (Gryll. Tettigonia Linn.)".
  • Maehr & Eades, 2009, Some authors recognize Stoll as the author of Tettigoniidae, Tettigoniodea, Tettigoniinae and Tettigoniini based on the use of Tettigoniae in 1787. This website has recognized Krauss, 1902 as the author because of Opinion 647 by the Commission in 1963, which placed Tettigoniidae with Krauss as the author on the List of Available Names in Zoology. However, Bradyporinae Burmeister 1838, Conocephalinae Burmeister 1838, Meconematinae Burmeister 1838, Phaneropterinae Burmeister 1838, Pseudophyllinae Burmeister 1838 and many other subfamily and tribe names all precede 1902. There are also difficulties with acknowledging Stoll as the author. His book did not clearly use binomial nomenclature and may not qualify as available. Stoll's usage of Tettigoniae was subordinate to genus Gryllus. Thus it was not a family group name. Article 35.5 of the ICZN allows the name Tettigoniidae to be retained in spite of its lack of priority. [copied from Tettigoniidae to Tettigoniae 13 May 2015]
